Lee, Australian PM Agree to Boost Cooperation

President Lee Myung-bak and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd have held telephone talks on ways to expand economic and commercial cooperation.

In the phone talks that lasted 15 minutes on Tuesday, Lee stressed his wish to enhance cooperation with Australia in the fields of mineral resources and energy, in particular.

The two leaders agreed to foster an overall comprehensive cooperative relationship between South Korea and Australia.

Lee and Rudd also agreed to strengthen cooperation on global issues including climate change and denuclearization.

Rudd reportedly expressed his wish to accelerate negotiations on a free trade agreement with South Korea.
