Korean A-Bomb Survivors to Get Compensation

Korean survivors of the 1945 atomic bombing in Japan will receive damages from the Japanese government.

Japan’s NHK television has reported that Tokyo will pay one-point-two million yen, or 12-million won, to non-Japanese atomic-bomb victims living outside Japan.

The move follows a Japanese court’s ruling that the Tokyo government must pay the money to survivors living overseas.

Before the ruling, Tokyo had refused to pay the damages to around four-thousand foreign atomic bomb survivors living outside the country.
