Mexican Police Trying to Identify Koreans’ Captors

Mexican police are focusing efforts on finding out the identity of the alleged abductors of five South Koreans.
Mexican police said Thursday that it secured testimony from the abductees that there were about 20 kidnappers. Seven montage pictures of the captors have already been distributed.
Police suspect the kidnappers are likely to be members of a crime organization involved in drug trafficking and smuggling of illegal immigrants. Based on such suspicions, investigators have expanded their probe of organized crime around the Mexican border city of Reynosa, where the Koreans were kidnapped last Monday.
Police have concluded investigations of two of the captives and will complete probes of the remaining three on Thursday. The police are then expected to hand over the Koreans to the Korean Embassy in Mexico.
However, the transfer may be delayed as police are considering questioning the Koreans again once the kidnappers are arrested.
