Amb. to Japan Returns over Dokdo Dispute
Ambassador to Japan Kwon Chul-hyun has been recalled by the Seoul government as a protest to Japan’s renewed claim on Korea’s Dokdo islets.
Arriving at Gimpo Airport Tuesday night, Kwon told reporters that he expects a change in Japan’s stance as both parties are aware of the difficulties that normal diplomatic relations, without any additional complexities, pose.
He said the renewed claim is very disappointing and ruthlessly tramples on Korea’s sincere diplomatic endeavors up to now.
The ambassador cited no timetable for when he’ll be returning to Tokyo.
