Heat Wave Continues Across Korea
The sweltering summer heat continued Thursday, with heat wave warnings and adviseries issued for most of the country.
The mercury hit 36.7 degrees Centigrade in Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province, 36.5 degrees in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province, 35.9 in Daegu, 34.4 in Gwangju. Seoul’s temperature reached 30.5 degrees.
Inland areas in North and South Gyeongsang Provinces are expected to experience a tropical night on Thursday, but the heat wave will likely subside Friday as rain is expected on the west coast.
The state weather agency forecast that temperatures will likely be 1 to 3 degrees lower on Friday compared to Thursday, and will continue to fall on Saturday.
